How To Select Print Provider

Selecting a print provider can be excruciating difficult. For one, how do you know they're qualified to help assist you properly with filetype, color and substrate selection? And then there's the worry that they won't deliver, or worse, they send a cheap reproduction.
Here are a few ideas to help you:

Make sure your printer offers a wide range of profiled medias that you can choose from. Ideally, they should be able to match most color profiles.
Make sure they go over with you exactly how they require your files;
both in color and resolution requirements.
Insist on profiled & archival* media with print resolutions over 1200 dpi.
* both inkset and substrate should be generational, meaning you can gift it to future generation
